Close up view of Tundra Bean Geese in Dorset and a Great Northern Diver back in Yorks at Pool to end the year

Nice views of a Black-tailed Godwit at St Aidan's in November

Redpoll at Fairburn, Curlew & Little Egret in flight at St Aidan's and a rare Red-flanked Bluetail at Flamborough in November

Best photo I could get of the distant Long-toed Stint at St Aidan's in October - the 1st ever recorded in Yorkshire and only the 3rd in England with previous ones in 1970 & 1982.  Certainly drew the crowds!

Lovely views of Stonechat, Buzzard, Ruff & Grey Plover at St Aidan's towards the end of September.

Whinchats and a Little Stint at St Aidan's on 7/8 September

My first ever Bar-headed Goose at Eccup on 28 August + Snow Geese at York University on 10 September.

News of a rare White-tailed Lapwing at RSPB Blacktoft Sands on 26 August was too good an opportunity to miss.

Many spotters were there as it was the first ever recorded in Yorkshire and I think only the 7th or 8th record for the UK!

Some of the family of six Kingfishers giving lovely close views on the Roundhay Park Upper Lake in August.

Nice to see a Cattle Egret again at Fairburn in July plus a juvenile Arctic Tern at St Aidan's in mid August.

In July I enjoyed watching an Osprey for a couple of hours at Nosterfield, nr Ripon.  I arrived too late to see it catch a sizeable fish but it was still a pleasure to see it flying with the fish in its talons and then settle in a nearby tree to enjoy the meal.  Probably a 2019 hatch female on her first return to the UK + hope she makes a home at Nosterfield in future!

I always enjoy a yearly trip to RSPB Bempton Cliffs to see the Puffins and other sea birds but this year was a bit special as there was also a Black-Browed Albatross present + good views of a Barn Owl.

Dorset for a week in May with rare sightings of Woodchat Shrike, Dartford Warbler & Bonaparte's Gull

A couple of local rare jobs in April/May - Grey Plover at North Cave Wetlands & Ring Ouzel at Shadwell!

Wheatear at Scar House in April, young Song Thrush at the How Stean Gorge cafe + Blackcap & Whitethroat nearer home!

March to May shots from RSPB St Aidan's - always something of interest there!

A few early pics in 2021 - Finches at the side of the Wetherby to Spofforth Cycle Way
